Board of Ethics

This five-member board is responsible for receiving, hearing, investigating complaints, and taking appropriate action regarding possible violations of ethical standards by county employees and elected officials in accordance with the county's ethics ordinance. Violations include but are not limited to conflicts of interest, various disclosures, withholding information, unauthorized use of public property, improper political activity, timely payment of taxes, and improper acceptance of gifts.

Qualifications: All members must be a resident of the county and a registered voter, not an employee or county official and has not been an employee or county official during the three months immediately preceding the appointment, or be a spouse, parent, child, or sibling of an employee or county official, is not an officer or employee of any political party, and does not hold any elected or appointed office and is not a candidate for office of the U.S., Georgia. 

Term: Members serve a two-year term and shall continue to serve until their successors are appointed and qualified. 

Meetings: The Board of Ethics meets at least once annually in January of each year for the purposes of election of officers and such other businesses as the Board of Ethics deems proper and in accordance with the Ordinance. Meetings shall be called by a majority vote or by call of the chairperson. The meetings are publicized and held in the public hearing room utilized by the Board of Commissioners.
