Planning Commission

This advisory commission conducts monthly public hearings and makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners regarding rezoning of land, land use amendments, and special use approvals. In addition, this commission also recommends revisions concerning the county's Unified Development Code. This advisory commission receives staff support from the Planning and Community Development Department.

Qualifications

• Each member must be a resident of the county commission district from which the member is appointed.
• The Chairman's appointment must be a resident of the county.

Term

Members serve a four-year term.

Meetings

Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Barrow County Historic Courthouse located at 30 North Broad Street, Winder, Georgia.

Public Hearing Dates (PDF)

The Planning Commission’s recommendation will  be forwarded to the Board of Commissioners for a final action at a public hearing during the second Tuesday of the month. The Board meets at 6 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Barrow County Historic Courthouse located at 30 North Broad Street, Winder, Georgia.
