Board of Appeals

This seven member board hears appeals for addressing unusual or unique problems that may arise from the strict interpretation or enforcement of the county's Unified Development Code including appeals from an administrative decision, for a special exception, for unique hardships restricting reasonable use of a property, and for relief from flood damage prevention restrictions. This commission receives staff support from the Planning and Community Development Department.

Qualifications

• Each member must be a resident of the county commission district from which the member is appointed
• The Chairman's appointment must be a resident of the county

Term

Members serve a four-year term.

Meetings

Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Barrow County Historic Courthouse located at 30 North Broad Street, Winder, Georgia.
