911 Advisory Board

This advisory board assists the county by reviewing and analyzing the progress by public safety agencies in developing 911 system requirements and more.

Board of Appeals

Board of Elections & Voter Registration

The Board of Elections & Registration is responsible for registering citizens to vote, maintaining voter registration records, conducting all county elections, mailing out absentee ballots, training poll workers, and keeping abreast of all state laws pertaining to elections and voter registrations.

Board of Equalization

The Board of Equalization hears taxpayer appeals from assessments made by the Board of Tax Assessors and can take necessary action to obtain uniformity.

Board of Ethics

This five-member board is responsible for receiving, hearing, investigating complaints, and taking appropriate action regarding possible violations of ethical standards by county employees and elected officials in accordance with the county's ethics ordinance.

Keep Barrow Beautiful Volunteer Board

Keep Barrow Beautiful (KBB), a local affiliate of the Keep Georgia Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful, promotes environmental awareness and education through litter prevention, waste reduction, and beautification programs. KBB conducts annual recycling programs and other events.

Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC)

The LEPC's purpose is to pursue the development of an awareness program involving industry, the community, local government, and the news media and evaluate available resources for preparing for and responding to potential incidents.

Northeast Georgia Aging Services Advisory Council

This advisory council's responsibilities are to advise and assist the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission and its staff of the Area Agency on Aging in developing and administering the area plan, representing the interest of older persons and acting as an advocate on their behalf, reviewing and commenting on community policies, programs, and actions which impact older persons, and providing oversight of staff activities.

Northeast Georgia Region 10 EMS Council

The Northeast Georgia Region 10 EMS Council consists of representatives from ten counties including Barrow and serves as an advisory council to the Georgia Department of Public Health, Office of EMS and Trauma.

Personnel Review Board

This board conducts employee appeal hearings and renders decisions of members of the Civil Service System who claim to have been subject to an adverse employment action in accordance with the Civil Service Handbook.

Planning Commission

Upper Oconee Basin Water Authority

The Upper Oconee Basin Water Authority was created by the Georgia General Assembly in 1994 and consists of four counties: Barrow, Athens-Clarke, Jackson, and Oconee. This Authority is authorized to secure governmental permits, licenses, and approvals for the design, financing, acquisition, and construction of reservoirs and related improvements.

Water & Sewer Authority

The Barrow County Water & Sewerage Authority's purpose is to acquire an adequate source of water supply and subsequently treat and distribute the water to wholesale and retail customers.
