At a ceremony Tuesday evening in front of a standing-room-only crowd at the Barrow County Historic Courthouse, Barrow County officially welcomed its next Fire Chief.
Brett Skinner received his chief’s pin as he takes over the Barrow County Fire Department, an organization he’s served for more than two decades.
“I could not be more proud to serve this great community as Fire Chief. I sincerely appreciate the trust placed in me by Barrow County Government to assume this role – one I do not take lightly or for granted,” said Skinner.
Skinner previously served as Deputy Chief, and has more than 20 years’ experience in emergency services and fire rescue. He is a Georgia Certified Fire Chief and a Georgia Advanced Emergency Manager.
“Brett has proven himself as a dedicated firefighter, a trusted colleague, and a respected leader. His career has been defined by professionalism, integrity, and a genuine care for the people he serves. I can think of nobody better qualified to lead the men and women of the Barrow County Fire Department,” said Srikanth Yamala, Barrow County Manager.
Skinner takes over for Alan Shuman, who retired as Barrow County Fire Chief at the end of June.
