Alex Ward, District 4 Barrow County Commissioner, was honored Thursday for his completion of a Specialty Certification in the Lifelong Learning Academy by the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG).
The ACCG Lifelong Learning Academy features three components: Core Certification, Specialty Certification and Continuing Education. Members complete eight courses and a two-day leadership training – a total of 66 hours of courses – to achieve the Core Certification, at which point Specialty Certification may begin.
Ward completed a Specialty Certification in Intergovernmental Relations.
“In my role as commissioner, I consider it my duty to learn and grow as much as possible on behalf of the citizens of Barrow County. While this certification is an honor to obtain, it does not represent the finish line; there will always be new forms of knowledge and skills to learn,” said Ward.
Ward was recognized for his certification during an awards ceremony at ACCG’s annual conference in Savannah.
