Barrow County Government offices will be closed Friday, Jan. 10 due to the winter weather forecasted for the area.
This includes Barrow County’s administrative offices, courts, senior center, animal shelter and facilities at Victor Lord Park. The animal shelter will remain closed on Saturday.
“As citizens prepare for snow and ice in our area, we encourage them to sign up for emergency alerts, ensuring they receive timely and accurate information,” said Alan Shuman, Barrow County Fire Chief. “Citizens are also encouraged to obtain a weather radio, providing another key lifeline to important weather information during this storm which could bring prolonged power outages to our area.”
Residents should also have an emergency preparedness kit. Information on creating a kit can be found at ready.gov.
During the weather event, essential public safety and public works personnel will remain on duty. Citizens reporting non-life-threatening emergencies, such as downed trees or power lines, should call non-emergency lines at any of the following phone numbers:
- 678-219-0164
- 470-891-2726
- 470-891-2981
As always, life threatening emergencies such as house fires, injury or other imminent danger should be reported via 911.
