Juvenile Court

The Juvenile Court Judge is appointed by the four Superior Court judges of the Piedmont Judicial Circuit for a four-year term. This court, operating through an intergovernmental agreement between Barrow County (47%), Jackson County (41%), and Banks County (12%) hears juvenile delinquency cases, child abuse and negligent cases, and juvenile traffic offense cases. The Juvenile Court is served by the Piedmont CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) which is an organization of private volunteer citizens appointed by the Juvenile Court Judge who monitors, evaluates, and provides reports about a child's case. Probation and Delinquency Intake Services are provided by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
