Leisure Services

The Barrow County Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Services Department provides county-wide recreational programming and services to all residents. Equal access and convenience are ensured by providing programs and services in the geographic center of the County. This department manages the Senior Citizens Center and the 100+ acre Victor Lord Park, with a multi-use recreation center and a 2019 park expansion.

Facilities managed by the department include fourteen lighted tennis courts including a tournament complex, ten baseball/softball fields of various sizes, four multi-purpose athletic fields including a synthetic turf field, four concession stands, three playgrounds, three pavilions, a dog park, and an outdoor walking trail. A regulation pickleball court is located at the Senior Center, 80 Lee Street, Winder. This department offers numerous youth athletics programs including baseball, basketball, cross country, softball, track and field, and volleyball. Adult athletic programs include pickleball, adult softball leagues, and tennis. The department also hosts various community and school system events including Special Olympics events. The department rents fields and facilities for public use including tournaments. The department partners with local youth sports associations for cheerleading, football, and soccer.
