Human Resources:

The Human Resources Department is responsible for recruiting and selecting employees for all county departments and assisting elected officials in their recruitment and selection process. This department maintains all employee personnel records, administers all employee benefits including health, dental, vision, and retirement, and assists employees with their benefit questions. This department also oversees the county's risk management program to include general liability and worker's compensation.

The E-Verify Employment Eligibility Verification Program (EEV) involves verification checks of the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) databases, using an automated system to verify the employment authorization of all newly hired employees, regardless of citizenship, after completion of the Employment Eligibility Verification Form (Form I-9). Barrow County has been complying with E-Verify since December 2007.

Pursuant to Title II ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, no otherwise qualified individual with a disability in the United States shall, solely by reason of her or his disability, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance or under any program or activity conducted by Barrow County, Georgia. Additionally, pursuant to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, no person shall on the grounds of race, color, or national origin be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity conducted by Barrow County, Georgia.

Drug-Free Workplace

Barrow County is committed to maintaining a work environment free from the adverse impact of employee drug and alcohol abuse. Employee drug and alcohol abuse create serious risks of physical harm to employees, persons who rely on Barrow County's services, and to the public. Barrow County will not tolerate an employee's possession, sale, distribution, consumption or presence in the body of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs while on County property or on County business at any time. Employees who test positive for drug use shall be terminated.
