TRAFFIC COURT ANNOUNCEMENT Due to COVID-19 virus and new operating procedures for social distancing. The Barrow County Probate Court will make available to defendants the following: If the offenses that a defendant is charged with is one of the below offenses, you may go online to EZCourtpay.com and pay your citation and the charge will automatically be reduced to a zero point, basic rules violation. That means that your citation will NOT ever appear on your driving record.

The offenses that will generate a zero-point, basic rules violation are:
  • • Speeding less than 24 over (OCGA 40-6-181)
  • • Failure to maintain lane (OCGA 40-6-48)
  • • Following too closely (OCGA 40-6-49)
  • • Failure to Stop or Yield at Stop Sign (OCGA 40-6-72)
  • • Disobeying Traffic Control Device (OCGA 40-6-20)

    New Carry Permit Procedures

    The Probate Court Judge is elected by the voters for four year terms. The Probate Court is responsible for probating wills, appointing guardians of minors and incompetent persons, issuing marriage licenses, and issuing firearm, fireworks, and explosive permits. In addition, this elected office also records birth, death, and marriage certificates as the state appointed custodian of vital records for the county, hears misdemeanor traffic cases, game and fish cases, and drug cases, and collects county and state traffic fines. This office also administers oaths to public officers, files, approves, and records bonds of public officers, and administers estate matters.

    Probate Court exercises jurisdiction over:

    • Probate of Wills
    • Administration of Estates
    • Conservators of Minors
    • Temporary and Permanent Guardians of Minors
    • Guardians and Conservators of Adults
    • Certificates of Residence
    • Involuntary Hospitalization/Outpatient Evaluations
    • Permits for Fireworks
    • Georgia Weapons Carry Permits
    • Marriage License
    • Birth and Death Certificates
    • Barrow County Misdemeanor Traffic Citations

    The Barrow County Probate Court accepts Cash, Credit and Debit. Please note that if you choose to use Credit or Debit cards a service fee will be applied.
